What's the best way to peel a Mango?
Mangos are so pretty and have a very interesting flavor. But man! Are they ever trouble to try to get the seed out! The mango flesh is so fibrous and the seed is so large, I end up unwittingly mashing the flesh trying to cut it from the seed so I usually just give up and make mango puree in the blender.
I'm sure there are special Mango peelers on the market. But is there some secret technique for peeling a mango into nice long slivers or cubes for use in fruit salads and other recipes?
Pierce the skin with a knife, and peel the skin off with your hands, like a banana or an orange.
The skin tends to be very bitter and peeling the entire think with a knife can and will get that bitterness on to the fruit.
