Are there any good products for brewing large quantities, half a gallon or more, of iced tea at home?
I'm a big fan of quality, home-made iced tea. I usually just boil the water in an 8 quart sauce pan and use standard tea bags, then pour the tea into a pitcher after it's finished brewing. But now I want to experiment with loose teas that are available in bulk at a local health food store. I do know that some people recommend using a coffee maker to make tea. I'm asking whether anyone can recommend a product on the market specifically designed for making tea, iced or hot?
I sometimes make iced tea 1.5 quarts at a time. I follow the directions on the Celestial Seasonings boxes and they say to brew the tea in one fourth the amount of volume, then add the sweetener (if desired), then the water up to the proper volume. I guess you could do it that way. As far as tea machines, I've seen them and they're quite expensive and not very popular.
