Can I just use towels/blankets and shredded tissue as temporary bedding?

I can't get bedding until 2-3 days later since it's the holidays so can I just put a layer of newspaper and then put small towels over it COVERING the newspaper? Also add some shredded tissue and napkins for extra comfort? Since people were saying newspaper/ink is bad for the rodent and can kill them/shorten their lives. Thanks in advance! :)

If it's temporary, towels are fine, or an old t-shirt. Anything that's just straight up paper, no ink, is fine temporarily as well.
