How do I work out the typical wavelength and frequency of a microwave, infrared wave, visible light etc.?
How do I work out the typical wavelength and frequency of a radiowave, microwave, infrared wave, visible light, UV, x ray, gamma radiation?
I know that
wave length (metres) = wave speed (m/s) / frequency (Hz)
and
frequency (Hz) = wave speed (m/s) / wave length
and the wave speed in a vacuum must be 300000000 m/s
I have a rough idea but I need to make sure where Im going with this...

Your rough idea is absolutely correct.
wavelength is frequently represented by: λ
The speed of light in vacuum is often represented by: c = 300*10^6 m/s
The frequency of a wave is represented by: f
λ = c / f
Example: If you were given the problem:
What is the wavelength of a radio signal at 27.185 MHz?
λ = c / f = 300*10^6/(27.185*10^6) = 11.036 m
Example: If you were asked the following:
What is the frequency of light at a wavelength of 1.3 micro-meters?
λ = c / f
After some basic algebra:
f = c / λ = 300*10^6/(1.3*10^-6) = 230.8 * 10^12 Hz
etc...
